Day of Rest

When your muscles are screaming, you have hard time sleeping (and not just your four year old deciding to ride his tricycle at 3:00 a.m.), and you want to eat everything in the house you know it’s time for a rest day. I have found that I have six days of intense training in me before I need day of complete rest. Typical workouts for me are 35-45 of intense superset weight training and then mod-high to high intensity cardio for another 30-45 minutes. So, by the end of the week everything is screaming and shouting take a break.  Just sitting here now and my body is already feeling better. I am scheduled to do my push up challenge tonight, but I will probably do it in the a.m. with my shoulder workout since I am Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday.

The other thing I usually do on my DOR is cheat meal. In March I will be in Vegas for nine days and I have decided to drop the cheat meal until I get back. When I travel (Vegas is about the only place I go), I like to have one meal a day that is whatever I want without guilt. I always exercise during travel and I pack a lot of food to take with me. But, come on, who doesn’t want to eat something good with all the great restaurants around. Hubby and I don’t drink in Vegas (maybe if we’re with friends, but my friend is now preggo so that it is done) so enjoying some of our favorite foods and desserts is what we do. :) With that in mind, I’m sticking to my healthy diet until I can really enjoy some of the foods I can’t have in Nashville.
