Vegas…What day is it?

I usually try to write something insightful other than must my mindless ramblings about what I have been filling my time with. Unfortuanately, my brain is fried today from a 13 hour poker session yesterday. Yes…you read that right. Chris and I sat at the poker table and played for 13 straight hours. At 6:30 a.m. I was at Denny’s splitting French Toast with Chris planning how long we would sleep before going back tonight. :) We just love poker and it is fun to spend that much time doing something you love with the one you love.

Let’s talk about eating and what I’ve been doing. I have been eating all the good crap that I never eat at home BUT I am making some sort of sacrifice at every single meal. Rather than listing everything (because I seriously can’t remember all of it…sort of just a haze at this point) I will list examples of what I am doing.

1. For breakfast I primarily have alternated between egg white omelets, dry whole wheat toast and fruit plates OR oatmeal and fruit plate.

2. For lunch I try to eat some type of salad that has no croutons, bacon or cheese. I’ll usually have a 1/2 sand or something else with it.

3. For dessert we’ve only been splitting sherbet or having Gellato which is made with lowfat or skim milk. Basically it is 180 calories a scoop and is delicious.

4. When we have something REALLY tastey we’ve been splitting the plate rather than ordering our own. That helps because if I have a plate of food, I’ll eat a plate of food.

5. Water. No alcohol. I am drinking too much coffee, but I’m using 2% milk in it. I wish the casino had skim in the bar but they don’t. I have to believe it is better than liquor.

6. Walking. We are walking some. Not as much as most, but we are trying to get in at least 30 minute walks and short walks when we can.

7. Exercise. I have worked out some, but decided to just lay off weight training until I get home. The lack of sleep is not going to help with muscle development so I’m doing Turbo Jam in the room on my laptop.

Lessons learned about tastey but not so healthy food:

1. I miss good food! I cannot wait to get home and eat my clean foods. Tastey things are nice but I’m starting to miss the taste of the fresh veggies and low sodium foods. :)

2. I feel like blah. My energy levels are dropping, I’m getting crazy hungry because we aren’t eating exactly timely, and my skin is even dry and blotchy.

3. My “system” is way out of whack. I hate that. Fiber is so good and all this junk is locking me up and bloating me.

Ahhhh…clean eating is so nice and I miss the energy you get from fueling right. I am making a diligent effort and maintaining all of my progress, but I miss the spoils of good nutrition and sleep. Vegas…I love you but this could never be my lifestyle.
