Take Your Victories and RUN WITH THEM!!!
Sometimes I feel like my girls think their Non-Scale Victories are like a pair of scissors. If they are caught running with them they are either going to fall on them or get scolded for doing it. Let me explain with a client brag and an example:
Dawn's AWESOME VICTORY
VICTORY: Last night I went shopping to get some new clothes and Jeremy went with me (he is good at picking out my clothes, yeah). So I needed shirts mainly and also a pair of jeans. So I was going to get a size 10 but Jeremy said to grab an 8 also. Well, what do you know the size 8 fits. THEY LOOK DARN GOOD I MIGHT ADD!!! Now, we all know that all places size differently so maybe they are a big size 8 but I don't care that tag says SIZE 8 so I am going with it. I am SO EXCITED!!!! I also bought 3 MEDIUM size shirts. YEAH!!! It was a shopping trip success.
First, CONGRATULATIONS! How great is it when you are dropping sizes? Let me tell you, it's worth more than anything in the world. Dawn loses about .5-1 lb. a week and that's it. I say that's it because most people will say, "I want to lose more than 1lb. a week. This sucks." Well, pounds are fat melting away and not her precious muscle. And, fat means smaller pants, hot pictures, and tight booties! Muscle loss means loose skin, flabby butt, and no way in hell will 4 lbs. of lost muscle drop you a size in clothes. Hell, 8 lbs. of lost muscle won't either.
Second, what the heck do you mean some places are bigger than others? So WHAT? And, you don't have any clue if you were even in one of those places. You just "mentally" dismissed all your hard work. I say you earned every bit of those size 8's and don't even think for a second that you are allowed to discount any part of that victory.
Ladies, gents, cats, dogs...all of you who read my words: You have to start now at accepting how hard you work and every ounce of well deserved victories you get. Let go of all that Fat Girl Thinking that sneaks up on us. I've said it before and I'll say it again, everytime someone complements you simply say, "Thank YOU! I've been working really hard." When you drop a size say to yourself, "You go girl! Look at your smoking butt in those size BLANK!" If a co-worker notices your arms are getting cut you don't say, "You think so???" Nope, you will simply give them that gun show they so richly desire. Flex it up and say the hours pressing heavy are really paying off.
I'm so proud of all my girls. Lately we've been on fire. I really feel like the forums are smoking with support, tips, and high fives. Our community is so awesome and I'm a proud Momma to all of you...especially Dawn who will simply say, "Thanks for acknowledging me, Corinne, I've been working really hard." :)
