Getting Fit and Ready to Lose Weight in 08: Design A Workout Plan
This week I have been working in a corporate fitness center introducing people to the machines, strength training, and basic workout information. It's been enlightening to say the least. I am amazed at how little most people know about exercise, eating, and getting in basic good health...forget getting in good shape. I ain't just talking about ladies, either. The dudes are no better. I tell you, it makes me darn proud of PNP ladies...you girls freaking rock in how much you do and know about PHITNESS.
This brings me to today's topic in our Getting Fit and Ready to Lose Weight in 08 series...Design a Workout Plan. People, if you are going to spend your valuable time working out one of the best things you can do for yourself is to have a workout plan designed to suit your goals. Working out isn't brain surgery, but there are factors that need to be considered when getting ready to embark on getting in shape.
First, you need to know what your goals are. Do you want to lose weight? Do you want to be able to function better in day to day life? Do you want to develop a drop dead sexy body? There are lots of goals and with each goal a new approach is taken to the way you workout.
Second, you need to be realistic on how much time you are going to spend working out each week. The key word here is REALISTIC. Don't go into your fatloss journey thinking "I'm going to workout six days a week for at least an hour" without first making sure you have the time AND the dedication. The worst thing you can do is go into this with unrealistic expectations of yourself. Even though it's great to do some form of exercise each day the first 30 days, it's more important that you be honest with yourself on what you are willing to do for the REAL workouts. The four to five days you can commit 45 minutes to an hour of true gut busting work needs to be realistic. The other days are just walking around a little to be healthy.
Third, if you aren't very familiar with how to exercise CORRECTLY forget going to the gym and starting on the machines by yourself. More than likely you aren't working out hard enough, doing the right amount of reps, using the "good machines" and avoiding the "waste your time machines" and you are also probably doing cardio that is going to eventually set you back. Trust me, if you are looking to truly get off fat and have a body you desire you need to let someone steer you in the right direction. Don't waste your time!!!
There are several ways to get your hands on a good workout schedule from hiring a trainer to joining a site like mine. Honestly, my site is awesome and we give you so much that if you ever join you'll be SHOCKED at what we offer and teach you. Sometimes I shock myself not charging more for what I do because I wish I had someone like me when I started all of this. LOL.
Seriously, though, this isn't a Phit-N-Phat sell job. I simply hate to see people who really want to get fit, hot, sexy, in shape, healthy, whatever your reason walk into a fitness room wide eyed and bushy tailed to do some work. You proceed to bust out 20 curls because you want sexy arms, lay down and do 100 crunches because you want a flat tummy, and then hit a few abductors and adductors (the famous thigh machines) to slim down those legs right. This all happening after spending 60 minutes pounding it out on the elliptical and wonder why in six months you look flabby, stalled out in your weightloss, and somehow those thighs are jiggling a little worse then when you weighed 20 lbs heavier. If this sounds remotely familiar for goodness sakes join PNP and let us get you on the right path.
