Getting Fit and Losing Weight in 08: Find a Trainer, Team or Community!

Published 02 January 08 04:23 PM | Corinne

I'm not making this blog today a hard sell on why you should belong to PNP. I think you all know that I offer killer, boot camp style workouts, motivation, cardio routines, discussion forums with like-minded women, help with fueling your workouts, and a swift kick in the rear when needed. The workouts are tough, designed so that you are making the best use of your time, and did I say tough? OK...that is a shameless little plug, but I want to talk about the importance of my team...to me and to you.

When I made the decision to become a personal trainer I had no idea the impact it would have on my life. I did it for a few reasons:

1. An excuse to exercise more by helping others exercise.

2. To learn more about how to exercise.

3. My husband said I should get paid for all the advice I was giving out for free.

4. I wanted to have a stunning home gym.

So, I got my certification through ACE and decided I would train a few people online "just until I get a few live clients." Well, let's just say that I'm still online and loving every minute of it. I have met, trained, and became friends with some of the most amazing women in 07. Kathleen, Trish, Lorie, and Mary...you guys think I changed your life? You have given me your time, support, belief, and countless ideas to help me become the PNP Diva I am today. I could never express to you how thankful I am you were brought into my life, but I swear I will try really hard one day.

I look back at our first emails when you took the plunge to trust some girl from the Weight Watchers board to help you get fit and I laugh at how we were all wide-eyed and wondering if this thing would really work. Well, look at us now! 250+ blogs, 100 PNP girls and counting, nearing 10,000 threads, a Phat Camp, half-marathon, and so much more NOT under our belts just since February of last year! Now we have Jessica, Dawn, and Jen and who knows what our team will be like next year?

You know, they say it takes a village to raise a child and I've become a believer it takes a team to get over Fat Girl Thinking and on with getting PHAT. PNP is more than just a place to get a killa workout. It's home and it's your team working out with you, helping you over those pizza oops, telling you it's OK if the scale didn't move this week, and kicking your rear when you want to just throw a pity party. Yes, we can sniff out BS just as well as we can hop off the wagon, deadift your butt, and throw you back on to fight another day.

Here is to another great year. A year filled with more girls achieving their goal weight, completing their first 5K, finishing their first triathlon, getting their new boobs (I sort of inspire that in my girls), and actually telling the guys at the gym that "no, I don't need help lifting that weight...I'm actually adding some on."

On a side note, we've started something new at PNP...spotlight member of the month. This is Barbara and she sums up what I feel like PNP has come to be; women of all shapes, sizes, and fitness levels working hard to be more than they ever thought possible. Go Barbara!!!

I'm not sure what to comment but I know that one is needed.  This PNP community and changed me in so many ways more than just physical and I know that more changes are in store.  I have sweat, laughed and cried with everyone here and have opened my life to people I have never met.  I'm thrilled to be a part of this and cannot wait to hear of the success that the PNP group will have in 08.  Each one of us brining something unique and fun and able to touch people in our own ways.  Thank you Corinne for letting us help people too.

The funny thing is I cried re-reading this thread just a minute ago then laughed at myself because the next thing to come in my inbox was the "Hemmrhoid" thread. That thing has gotten a lot of action today. LOL. Just shows that there is NOTHING we won't talk about.

Every day I look foward to reading the PNP forums. I learn so much. It is so motivating and inspiring. It really keeps me on track. I know with you and PNP I will finally reach my goal weight this year, not to mention be the healthiest I can be. Thanks so much for all you do for us!!! I can't wait for the new challenge.

I am glad I could make you laugh with my hemmorhoid talk. A girls gotta do what a girls gotta do and like I said, If you can't talk about it to your PNP family than who can you talk to.  As usual I got some great feedback and it is on PNP forever so we can always refer to it when we need a little help with those "rhoids".

You know how I feel about you Corinne. My appreciation for you sharing your knowledge and experience means more to me than you will ever know. I am finally on my way to be the person Ialways wanted to be and knew I could be with just a little push.  I too have made some wonderful friends with PNP. Look what we accomplish just by chatting on-line it  truly is amazing.  I always imagine what we would be able to do if we all lived in the same town.  No one would be able to stand us really. We would be our own PHIT -N- PHAT verson of the PINK LADIES.

Woman, you know how I feel about you.  And altho I'm not on the Boobs Bandwagon (yet), I would really, really love a tummy tuck!!

Now pass the Kleenex...
