Who doesn't want a sexy midsection? Abs is a topic of great debate. Should I do 100 crunches a day? What should I eat? Will I ever see a six pack?
The links on this page will take to all sorts of great info regarding training your abs. A few quick PNP tips to get your mind around what it takes to sculpt a sexy midsection are:
-
Good looking abs are 80% about what you eat. The quickest way to see abs is to totally clean up your diet. You will want to follow a good, clean diet like the one suggested in the books "The Eat Clean Diet" or "Metabolism Advantage." As part of the Phit-N-Phat Community, you have access to the "Getting Phat the Healthy Way" book in the download section. Using those guidelines will also help you reduce your middle.
-
Up the intensity of your cardio. Abs respond very well to HIIT training and to Interval style cardio workouts.
-
Strengthening your abs is about working the entire region. If you are doing 100 crunches a day for your ab region, stop wasting your time! It doesn't happen that way. There are some great routines in the links on this page that will help you.
Another aspect of ab training is engaging your midsection during your strength workouts. My circuit style workouts throw ab pops into your regimine along with focusing on exercises that make you focus on your abs. This is another great way to tone that midsection.

Compound Workout with Core Focus - I would use this workout as part of a 3-day strength training week. Upper Body Day, Lower Body Day, Compound Core Day all with a day off in between. On your days off you can do cardio - moderate high to high intensity is best for seeing improvements on your midsection. If you are using PNP Workouts, you could add this day after week five of the Beginner Series. Intermediate and Advanced users have Abs/Core built into their programs or you can do this routine two times during a taper week.
