What finally made you decide to lose weight? I wanted to be fit by the time I turned 40 and figured if I didn't do it now, I might never get it done.
What type of diet did you follow? Weight Watchers.
Why did you choose this diet? I think that Weight Watchers offers something for everyone. I think that the flex plan is great for people as they are first learning portion control and food choices. I love the new Core plan and think that it allows people to really hone in on healthy food choices and food that are nutritionally dense. This really helps in getting off those last stubborn pounds.
How long were you on your diet program? I started WW in January of 2007. I'm still working to lose the last few pounds but met a goal of 164 on August 2, 2007.
What kinds of physical activities do you like doing to maintain your weight and to stay fit? I love weight lifting. I love the way it has changed the shape of my body. It is amazing that at 159 I'm fitting into size 8 pants (almost size 6) and I attribute this to weight lifting. I recently started running. I started with the C25K program and this is fun. Running is challenging me in mental and physical ways.
What were the most difficult obstacles you had to overcome or are still overcoming? It took me 9 weeks to lose 10 pounds. Talk about frustration. I even gained three pounds in one week when I had eaten like a "golden child." As I get closer and closer to a true weight it is difficult
to see the weight not dropping off as quickly.
How do you keep yourself motivated? I use all of the WW tools they provide us and work with Phit-n-Phat to continue on my quest. Corinne challenged me to eat more, which is completely against what we think, and low and behold, the weight started shedding again. Being able to talk with other people through this journey on a daily basis as been wonderful; it pushes me to reach my goals.
Do you have any weight loss tips for our readers? Journal, eat healthy foods, and workout hard. Give it 100% and settle for nothing less.
Do you think it will be easy to fall back into your old patterns? I think if I didn't have a group of people that supported me it could be easy to revert back. However, the longer I work at this the easier it becomes.
How do you prevent this from happening? Talking with people about my struggles, making sure that I'm always keeping healthy foods in the house, and having a workout partner that counts on me to be at the gym is great motivation.
Do you have a favorite Web site or blog that helped or inspired you to lose weight? I don't have a favorite site but get loads of inspiration from all the other PNP people. Listening to their struggles and then helping them through it helps me focus on doing it right and not doing it fast.
