Biography: I am 33 years old, married to Randy, and mother of Lauren who is now 8 months old. I consider myself a “temporarily retired” teacher who now gets to stay home with our daughter.
I always felt like I was a “fat” kid, but looking back at pictures, I was a very healthy child. The other girls in my class (all 3 of them) were all tiny little toothpicks. I started putting on weight during jr. high, high school, and college. I tried losing weight several times, but never had much success.
In 2004 I lost 50+ pounds with WW, with the support of a great meeting and my mom. I never made it to goal weight, but was loving the results that I was getting. Later that year I met my husband. We dated for almost 2 years and were married in 2006. Since I always wanted to have children, we started trying to get pregnant almost immediately. I found out that I was pregnant in April of 2007. During my pregnancy I was extremely tired and let my exercising and eating go. I gained back the 50 pounds that I had previously lost. I am now 20 pounds away from where I was in April of 2007.
I am looking forward to re-losing those 20 pounds, and hopefully more. I have said once I get back to my pre-pregnancy weight I’d consider having #2. Next time I will continue to work out with PnP thanks to Corinne’s pregnancy routine, and keep my eating under control.
Why and When you got involved with PnP: I was reading Corinne’s posts on the ww boards back around March of 2007, I was all set to sign up with her, but then I found out I was pregnant! I told myself as soon as I could, I would sign up with her. I read her blog all through my pregnancy, and before my 6 week appointment, I had already applied and was accepted as a client.
What types of workouts you do? I do a lot of walking with my daughter in the stroller with pop squats, mountain climbers, lunges, etc. thrown in. I also like to do run/walks (I’m getting more running and less walking in these days). I’m also doing the 5 in 45 schedule for the current challenge.
What keeps you motivated? Seeing and helping others succeed is a great motivator for me. The challenges are excellent motivation for me. Being a part of a team and seeing their successes and helping them through challenges are very motivating. Breaking into a new “decade” is another way that helps keep me motivated. Training for 5K events, getting stronger, and running longer are an awesome feelings that help me stay motivated with my exercise!
Eating plan: I’m still counting WW points. I tried tracking in Sparkpeople, but I’m just not ready for all that it entails right now.
Favorite exercise: Anything that gets me good and sweaty. Running, circuits, rollerblading, etc. I also love swimming, but do it more for enjoyment than for workouts.
Something you never thought you'd be able to do and either can do or have tried doing: One thing that I have tried that I had never done before PnP is a circuit style of a workout. They are excellent workouts to get the heart rate going and keeping things interesting.
