Why and When you got involved with PnP: I was a lurker on the WW boards since about July 2007. I saw the pictures of last years phat camp at Corinne’s house and thought ‘wow that’s a dedicated trainer’… then I started lurking on the Phit and Phat website. At that time Corinne wasn’t taking on new clients. I kept checking and at the end of September I sent in my application. Honestly, I was ‘ready’ at that time but I wasn’t dedicated. Some days that seems like a lifetime ago… 7 months and I honestly feel like I’ve completely turned my life around. I love PnP… I LOVE LOVE LOVE it here.
What types of workouts you do? I really love Strength Training. I feel like I see the most improvements in that area. I started with the beginner program and have since finished Blast the Fat and am now on the Fast and Furious challenge!!!
What keeps you motivated? I think 2 things. 1) I signed up for the Sprint Triathlon (scheduled for May 4th)… there have been many days when I just ‘didn’t feel like it’… and I knew I had to get over that in order to even finish that race. 2) PnP keeps me motivated. The challenges ROCK, the support from the moderators, my PnP friends… it’s just awesome to have a community where you can say pp w/ cc and everyone knows what you mean. OH and a world where people UNDERSTAND that CHICKS need protein and to lift heavy weights!!!!
Eating plan: I try to watch my macros and follow the American Diabetic Diet (I am not Diabetic) BUT I can carb out like nobody’s business. I met with a dietician in 2002 and she taught me the ‘ways’… I like it… and of course I try to follow the PnP protein rule.
Favorite exercise: WOW this is difficult to answer. I really love to Strength train. I love the circuit in the Fast and Furious program. I like variety in cardio and I truly think I will keep up with the biking and swimming even if I never do another triathlon. I also like to change it up on the treadmill… some side shuffles and backwards walking breaks up any boredom!!!
Something you never thought you'd be able to do and either can do or have tried doing: Registering for the Sprint Triathlon – believe me I’m a ‘private’ exerciser… just the fact that I’ve went to a gym and have had other people see me sweat is a BIG deal. Pushing the weights… I love trying to eek out one more rep at a higher weight. Talking to people about my weight/food issues. I mean I have a few friends that we occasionally talk about “oh jeez I’m fat” but nothing like PnP… I never thought I would talk about things the way I do here.
This photo is of my friend Sandy, myself and Danny from “So You Think You Can Dance” Ummmm yes – that is totally Danny from last season!!!! This photo was taken 10/30/07 and I’m weighing around 210.
How has PnP affected your life? I’ve become more honest with my feelings and am learning that I CAN reach out for help. I’m not alone in this journey. We are all at different stages but EVERYONE has FG thinking. Journaling is incredible!!! I wrote in a personal journal a year ago that I wanted to develop friendships with strong, intelligent, positive, happy women… I had no idea those women would be found thru Phit-n-Phat. Especially Angela.
Any other Comments: I had been exercising following the beginner program starting Oct. 1. but my eating was so erratic and unscheduled/unplanned out of control that ANY work in the gym didn’t carry over to success on the scale. I LOVE to exercise – I like seeing myself get stonger – I have just GOT to get in my head that the clean eating / food issue is 80% of the success. I feel like I get better with that on a weekly basis.
